We acknowledge the feedback that some recent changes, including performance payments and the national gathering, were not explained clearly enough.
We understand that this caused frustration. When significant changes happen, sites need clear communication about both the decision and the reason behind it.
We are committed to improving this. In future, we will aim to explain major updates more clearly through our regular communication channels, including bulletins, newsletters and webinars.
Performance payments - Performance payments were previously able to be offered to sites that met Recruitment and Retention targets; however, these payments were always discretionary and dependent on available DSS funding. Performance payments have never formed part of block funding and are not included in the HIPPY Australia Sublicence and Funding Agreement. Present funding levels unfortunately do not allow us to currently make these payments.
We recognise that the absence of a performance payment may not have been anticipated, and we acknowledge that clearer and more proactive communication may have supported sites. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to be transparent about what is and is not funded.
National Gathering - Unfortunately, the budget does not include sufficient funding for HIPPY Australia to run a national gathering. Looking ahead, we encourage CoPs to consider what future ‘Gatherings’ could look like without requiring significant funding. This could include virtual formats, regional meet-ups, peer-led sessions, or other creative ways to strengthen connection and shared learning across the network. We welcome ideas from sites about what would feel meaningful, achievable, and supportive.
